Okoth said through his representative Vincent Ayako, who is also the Kibera Constituency Parliamentary Liaison officer that the beauty queens and kings had a reason to be celebrated since it takes courage for one to stand before a huge audience to model.

Dinner was served at unidentified Hotel after the conclusion of Mr and Miss Kibera competition at the Kamukunji grounds, Kibera.

The theme of the event was to promote peace before, during and after elections.

The models had time to campaign for votes from the audience.

Just like politics, the models had to promise the slum residents what they will do in case they won the Mr/Miss Kibera tittle.

Many contestants advocated for peace during elections period and called on their fellow youth to maintain peace to make Kibera a better place.

Contestant Brigit Mwende, 21, said all Kibera youth are important and should value one another so as to boost peace in the slums.

She also called on local leaders not to use youth to cause war within Kibera.
