Modogashe sub-county hospital in Garissa has recorded yet another massive victory, after it successfully performed the first ever cesarean section operation in its facility.
According to the hospital’s chief Medical Officer of Health Ahmedin Ali, he personally led the successful operation on an eighteen-year-old mother who has since been identified as Nurta Ahmed.
Ali said they opted for a cesarean section to the new mother because her pelvic bones were not well developed to allow for the baby's passage.
Commenting on the current state of the facility, the MOH disclosed that the hospital facility initially lacked some of the basic equipment that would have allowed them to conduct cesarean operations, adding that the current theater at the hospital was recently inaugurated in May 2016 by county governor Nathif Jama.
The new development comes barely two months after another successful operation was done at the Balambala Sub-County hospital.
