A group of residents from Mogonga region in Kisii County have asked the Ministry of Lands to expedite the process of issuing title deeds following unprecedented delay.
Speaking at Mogonga Township during a community meeting aimed at addressing the issue, they complained of unnecessary delay besides accusing the land ministry of bureaucracy in the process.
They gave an ultimatum of one week for the ministry to act before presenting their petition to Kisii County Commissioner Chege Mwangi to demand sacking of the officials in Kisii branch.
“We are giving the officials a week to settle the mess and in case they fail, we will present our complaints to the county commissioner and demand their sacking on grounds of incompetency and gross violation of our rights,” said Sammy Otendo.
Further, they urged the government to investigate possible fraud in the department in matters pertaining land transfer since some residents are said to have been shortchanged by unknown individuals.
“Some of us have complained of getting irregular land succession transaction by anonymous people. We suspect the presence of some cartels in the department and hence we want the government to investigate and bring culprits into books,” added Otendo.
