Nyali MP Mohammed Ali has now pledged his political support for Deputy President William Ruto ahead of 2022 general election.
Alias Moha Jicho Pevu, the former investigative journalist and independent MP asked Kenyans to elect William Ruto as Kenya's president after incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta completes his two-term.
Speaking when he joined Ruto at the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK), Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, Moha opposed proposals to amend the constitution to create a parliamentary system of governance that would create a prime minister post, saying Ruto was the only candidate that should be made president.
According to him, the system would deny Ruto a chance to lead the country for selfish political gains.
His support for Ruto comes months after supporting opposition's NASA coalition prior and shortly after the August 8, 2017 general elections.
Moha who is a strong critic of Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, lost his bid to vie through Raila Odinga's ODM party and vied as an independent candidate. He has since pledged to work with the ruling Jubilee party.
"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him," said Ruto.
Also present were Trans Nzoia Governor, Ford Kenya's Patrick Khaemba, Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa (Ford Kenya) who also echoed Ruto and opposed referendum calls.
The first-time MP's support for Ruto deals Joho a blow since he as well eyes for the country's top seat.
