Nyali Mp Mohamed Ali has found himself on the receiving end after he disputed the presence of mercury in contraband sugar. Ali spoke during a live interview on Citizen Tv.
The former journalist blamed the current sugar wars on the business rivalry. He further argued that mercury was an expensive metal and no one would waste it on such business. This comes after government authorities made arrest of business persons who were selling the alleged harmful products.
"Mercury is not a joke..mercury is an expensive metal. Who would put that in sugar? This is about business rivalry." Ali argued.
According to health experts, mercury can only be found in ionic form but not as a metal as Moha alleged. They have also warned that industrial sugar (not for direct human consumption) doesn't involve the process of absorbing and purifying to remove the heavy metals and its cheaper.
Kenyans on social media thought Mohamed Ali was displaying ignorance.
