Nyali MP Mohammed Ali has promised to lead fierce campaigns that will ensure NASA leader Raila Odinga clinches the presidency in the repeat presidential poll slated for October 17.
The former Investigative reporter said he will lead door to door campaigns in Mombasa and the larger Coast region to help Raila ascend to power.
In an interview with the Standard, the newly elected MP also pledged to marshal young people across the country to vote for Raila.
Ali said Raila’s presidency is what the country needs to heal from social, political and economic injustices.
He said Raila means well for the country, adding that it is time for Kenyans to trust the former Prime Minister and ensure he clinches the country’s top seat.
“Raila Odinga is the hope we have as a country if we have to realise development and national unity,” said Ali, as quoted by the daily.
The former Investigative journalist urged Coast residents and Kenyans at large to come out in large numbers and endorse Raila’s State House bid on October 17.
Ali said he will work closely with other NASA leaders to protect Raila’s votes in the repeat presidential polls.
Ali, who won the Nyali seat as an independent candidate, asked Kenyans to remain peaceful as they wait to vote in the repeat election.
Meanwhile, the MP has criticized President Uhuru Kenyatta’s threat to impeach Raila if he wins the election.
He said Uhuru’s remarks is a sign that he did not win in the August 8 polls and is now afraid of losing.
On Monday, President Uhuru said that Raila will be impeached within three months if he wins the presidential election.
Uhuru said Jubilee has the numbers in both the National Assembly and the Senate to impeach Raila within three months in case he is elected in the repeat election.
