Nyali MP Mohamed Ali has called on NASA leader Raila Odinga to help unite the country and push its development agenda forward.
The former investigative journalist wants Raila to partner with other leaders to unite Kenyans who he says have been sharply divided by the 2017 presidential election.
Speaking to locals in Nyali on Tuesday, Ali said that unity among all Kenyans and leaders will see the country prosper.
He said that the tribal divisions among Kenyans has hampered development and created animosity.
“My appeal is to Raila Amollo Odinga and other leaders to come together and help unite Kenyans who are hating each other on tribal grounds as a result of the 2017 presidential election,” he said.
The MP said that it is time for politicians to put aside their differences and preach harmony. The former Investigative scribe asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to reach out to opposition leaders and start reconciliation and healing process.
He said that the 2017 presidential election create animosity and tear and that it’s upon President Kenyatta to ensure that the country heals.
The MP urged Kenyans to remain peaceful and stay away from politicians and individuals agitating for violence.
He said that the country belongs to Kenyans and not politicians noting that it is Kenyans who will suffer if they are incited to burn down their country.
Pressure has been mounting on Uhuru and Raila to dialogue and chart way forward on the county’s unity after the election period and process ended.
Raila Odinga’s opposition has maintained that it does not recognize Uhuru Kenyatta’s presidency.
The opposition is planning to swear-in in Raila as the people’s president early next year despite a warning from the government that terms the planned coronation illegal and high treason.
