Former journalist Mohammed Ali has opened a commanding lead in the Nyali parliamentary seat. As at 5:20am, Ali had 18,760 votes (43.55%) against second-placed Said Abdalla Salim of ODM 11,505 votes (26.71%). Mr Ali, an ex-KTN investigative journalist, run to get an ODM ticket, but lost to Mr Salim in a disputed primary. More than 69% of the cast votes had been counted.
