Former Nyali parliamentary aspirant Said Abdalla Saido has contested after the High Court in Mombasa threw out his petition against incumbent Mohammed Ali.
On Friday, Justice Lydia Achode upheld Ali's victory in the August 8, 2017 general elections, saying the petitioner lacked evidence to support his election petition.
"3 weeks ago the court adjourned and it was agreed that we meet today at 10am for the final ruling. We wonder what delayed the ruling at the last minute until noon," Saido said on Friday.
The politician who vied through an ODM party ticket, also revealed that he would appeal the court ruling.
"Much as we respect the court we shall be appealling the judgment as we proceed on with the struggle for justice for the people of Nyali. I thank all my supporters for continuing to stand with us throughout this process," said Saido as he addressed the press.
Chaos erupted after the ruling, with police using teargas canisters to disperse aggrieved supporters of Saido.
