Elders drawn from the RIft Valley region have warned that the unending political tussle between Deputy President William Ruto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi could hurt President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election.
The two have been engaging in verbal attacks, as they seek to outsmart one another politically ahead of 2022 polls.
The duo have been categorical that they will be going for the presidency at the time.
Speaking on Tuesday, the Council of elders noted that the supremacy battles were unhealthy, calling for truce.
"The infighting between Kanu leaders and the Deputy President is not healthy. It might hurt Jubilee Party’s efforts to marshal support for the Head of State,” the elders' chair Gilbert Kabage stated.
“Kanu leaders should work with other Jubilee leaders and shelve their differences for now. How can they claim to be in a government yet they have differences with Mr Ruto who is part of that government?” the elders posed.
