Politics has no permanent friends or foes.
This is proven true by Baringo Senator Gideon Moi strongly defending President Uhuru Kenyatta against the rampant corruption allegations in his government.
Speaking in Narok County on Saturday during a thanksgiving ceremony for the newly-elected ACK Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit, Moi stated that he knows Uhuru at a personal level and that he is confident the president is not corrupt.
“Uhuru is a good President who means well for this country. I have grown up with him and he is my friend. He is not a thief but those around him are the problem,” said Retired President Moi’s son.
He, said the blame for theft of public funds in the country lies squarely on individuals surrounding the presidency.
At the same time, former Gatanga MP and a presidential aspirant in the 2013 elections Peter Kenneth defended the government from corruption allegations.
He said individuals involved in scandals should face the law at a personal level.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga who was also at the function maintained that the government is corrupt by being combative on criticism rather than dealing with the vice.
“This Jubilee government has eaten too much. It is high time Kenyans took their Identification Cards and voters’ cards to send them home,” Raila said.
