The Cancer and Chronic diseases center at the Moi Referral Hospital will be commissioned in April, an official has confirmed.
Speaking at his office on Monday, Hospital CEO John Kibosia said they expect the centre to be completed and commissioned in April this year.
The more than Sh 400 million centre will help fight cancer and other chronic diseases.
“We expect to complete and at the same time launch the cancer centre by April,” he said.
Kibosia also confirmed that Sh600 million has been set aside to equip the center.
He observed cancer cases are common in the region with patients struggling to get treatment.
Kibosia urged cancer patients to seek treatment early noting that the disease can be treated and controlled if detected early.
The construction of the centre was sponsored by the State and other donors.
