Speaking to Nation, the Baringo Senator said that the decision was not individual but based on the country.

“As a party leader, I was given the mandate by National Executive Council. We gathered views across the country,” said Moi.

He said that despite the political differences among the members, they all saw it was wise to back Jubilee’s Uhuru Kenyatta instead of NASA.

“Our members said they supported Uhuru. It doesn’t matter any differences we had as party leaders or members may have with other members of the party. It was a decision arrived at through wide consultations,” he added.

Moi further dismissed claims that the move was engineered by Mama Ngina Kenyatta who visited retired President Daniel Moi at his Kabarak home.
