Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has lauded  Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho's leadership, terming him one of the most vital leaders in the county.

Speaking when he visited the Governor at his offices in Mombasa on Thursday, the lawmaker noted that Joho's leadership skills are needed for the nation's growth.

"Joho is extremely important in the political equation of this country and the nation truly needs him," said the independence party, Kenya African National Union (KANU) chairman.

The two vowed to work together henceforth, in line with the reconciliation and building bridges path initiated by President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Moi emphasized on the need for the nation to uphold the initiative, stressing on the need for all Kenyans to follow suit for the betterment of the country.

"We can only deal with our issues by talking to each other and as leaders we are committed towards ensuring that the nation overcomes its current shortcomings," he said.

"Let us join in uniting the country and come back together as we have hurt each other, calling for forgiveness," added the Senator whose remarks were echoed by the Governor.

Joho further welcomed President Uhuru Kenyatta to the region despite their earlier bad blood, terming the same as his first move towards the realization of the reconciliation.
