Baringo senator Gideon Moi insists that the independence party KANU is still in control of the vote rich Rift Valley region.
KANU lost control to the defunct United Republican Party (URP) which has since been amalgamated with several other parties to form Jubilee Party.
Speaking in Baringo on Friday, Moi said KANU had regained its former strongholds and maintained that it will field candidates for various seats in 2017.
“Let nobody cheat you that KANU lost ground. The party is stronger than ever and we are optimistic that we will increase our representation come next year,” he said.
“We have done much more at grassroots and it’s not going to be business as usual in Rift Valley. Our territory is now intact and that is a fact,” he added.
Moi has been battling with Deputy President William Ruto over the control of the Rift Valley region.
