Kanu will not join the Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP), party chairman Gideon Moi has said.
In addition, the party and will field its own candidates in the 2017 general election.
Speaking to the press after holding a meeting with Uasin Gishu elders at Eldoret Town on Friday, Moi said that Kanu will not join or affiliate itself with any other coalition or movement.
He said that the party will not join hands with JAP as quoted by some politicians.
The Baringo senator however said that the party will continue working with the government because it is under the Jubilee Coalition.
“We will work with the Jubilee government for now because we are under the coalition,” he said.
Moi said that Kanu still has strongholds, and as party leaders, they are focusing on strengthening it.
When asked whether he will vie for presidency come 2017, the senator said, “For now I am focusing on my work as Baringo senator otherwise I leave everything to God”.
The Baringo senator urged elders in Uasin Gishu to popularise Kanu.
He said that Kanu is still popular among Kenyans and that it can still make a comeback in the forthcoming elections.
Moi said that party leaders are united and working on the same agenda.
