Former Heads of State Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki are set to receive Sh74 Million as a pension in 2017.
The supplementary budget tabled in parliament stated that the amount had increased by 15.6 percent from Sh64 Million they received in 2015. This means that Kibaki and Moi will be receiving Sh3 million monthly as part of their legal benefits.
The two leaders will also enjoy fuel allowance Sh247,500, entertainment Sh247,500, house allowances Sh247,500 and other utilities Sh379,500.
Kibaki approved the Presidential Retirement Benefits amendment act in 2013 before leaving office.
the High Court in 2015 attempted to stop the hefty allowances to retired presidents but the Attorney General Githu Muigai appealed the decision.
Moi and Kibaki also enjoy the services of bodyguards, drivers and personal assistants who are paid by taxpayers.
