Retired President Daniel Moi has praised Education CS Fred Matiang'i for initiating reforms that led to credible examinations and results.
Speaking Friday at Kabarak University during the 12th graduation ceremony, Moi commended Matiang'i for effecting a credible national examinations process but challenged the government to ensure high standards of education are maintained.
“The commendable efforts by the government to monitor our national examinations and block loopholes to exam cheating is only the tip of the iceberg as malpractices in the education sector are still untouched,” he said as quoted by the Nation.
Moi, who also is the institution's Chancellor, further warned that low education standards would hinder the country's progress.
The graduation ceremony saw a total of 20 graduands conferred with doctorate degrees, 43 with masters while over 700 were awarded undergraduate degrees in different fields.
