Anjere has said that his office has collaborated with the police to increase regular patrols in the market to deter robbery incidences that are on the rise.

"I am warning all those involved in crime in the market that we will soon catch up with them. Crime rate in the market is still high despite relocating students who were living in this area," said Anjere on Tuesday during a security baraza at the market.

Anjere, however, appealed to the traders to work within the stipulated time (8am-6pm) to minimize cases of attacks by thieves especially at night.

He also asked the traders to ensure that each an every one of them is issued with a market identity card as well as a jacket for easier identification while within the market premises.

"The county government has promised us that they will be installing lights in the market to ensure that traders do business late into the night. But for now we are asking to exercise extra caution for your safety and that of your merchandise," he said.
