Moi who spoke at Bartolimo in Baringo County during an event also attended by Murkomen, also clarified that his political differences with the DP are not personal but are as a result of unfulfilled development promises.

"Murkomen openly told me at the Senate building that he was Ruto's sycophant, his statement really shocked me given that our role as elected leaders is to serve the interests of the people, not an individual," Moi said as quoted by the Standard.

He added that the people of Baringo had made up their mind and would not rally behind the DP over unfulfilled promises on development.

"Murkomen, get it from me, even if you come to Baringo with 10 helicopters and several senators, people of this county have made up their minds,'' Moi added.

Moi made the remarks after Murkomen had asked the Baringo Senator to respect his political 'senior' DP Ruto telling him to borrow a leaf from his father -- former president Moi -- on matters politics.

"What Ruto is doing is exactly what the second president did before the death of Jomo Kenyatta. Gideon, I have no problem supporting you after Ruto. The Deputy President deserves respect and that is exactly what we are asking from Kanu," said Murkomen had told Moi.
