Independence party KANU could be warming to join the National Super Alliance under the leadership of opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Chairman Gideon Moi has not made any formal announcement even though after elapsing of a two weeks duration given by the party’s National Governing Council last month.
But on Saturday, nominated Senator Zipporah Kittony, who has been critical of party Secretary General Nick Salat’s involvement in opposition activities hinted a possible KANU support to opposition Nasa.
“We are supporting NASA and that is not an issue for now. We want you to give us one candidate because we can only have one presidential candidate,” she said in Vihiga on Saturday.
“If you want to know who KANU is supporting, these people have already said. We want to be counted on the right side of history,” added Salat.
The two KANU leaders had joined opposition leaders in Senator George Khaniri mother’s funeral.
Moi, who also doubles as Baringo senator, has been in loggerheads with Deputy President William Ruto despite his cordial relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
