Baringo senator Gideon Moi is set to be opposition leader Raila Odinga's running mate at least, should a proposal by National Super Alliance goes through, a source privy to intense political activities within opposition has revealed.
Moi, a critic of Deputy President William Ruto is keen to join 2022 presidential race in which the DP has already declared intention.
And Moi's choice is guided by the fact that the move will create a rift in Rift Valley, a region where the DP and Moi enjoys support.
"The technical team is working on many proposals but among the first, Moi is offered a Deputy President slot. He is a key player from Rift Valley," said the source.
The source added: " We shall hold a referendum to allow us create more positions for all principals within NASA. Hopefully that will go through."
Also in the proposal is a slot for second Deputy President in which Kalonzo Musyoka is offered while there is a provision of Prime Minister and two deputies.
Even though the team has not formally presented the document, Odinga is set to run for President while Musalia Mudavadi could be Prime Minister.
Moi, whose rivalry with William Ruto seems to be escalating daily, has promised though to support President Uhuru Kenyatta on condition that he supports his 2022 presidential bid.
