Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago says Baringo senator Gideon Moi shall easily retain his seat in August despite the Jubilee Party influence

Mandago, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto further attributes the victory to ‘respect’ accorded to retired president Daniel Moi, father to the senator.

His remarks contradicts Deputy President’s stand, who urged locals to tame senator Moi whom he accused of sabotaging his leadership.

“Gideon Moi will retain his seat on KANU and there is no doubt about that. We still respect President Moi and that is why I believe he shall win,” Mandago told reporters on Wednesday.

He added: “We do not have any issue with him but he should learn to respect the DP. We supported his father for over two decades.”

Also, Mandago warned that KANU and Chama Cha Mashinani of Governor Isaac Rutto will have no influence in the vast Rift Valley region apart from winning Baringo senatorial seat.

Moi, who also doubles as KANU chairman, has been at loggerheads with the DP for over four years in what is perceived to be supremacy battles.
