Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has asked the Maa to treat those advocating for family planning with disdain and as their enemies.
Speaking in Narok County on Saturday during a thanksgiving ceremony for the newly-elected ACK Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit, the Senator stated that the community needs to increase their numbers to have greater political bargaining power.
The senator sparked laughter with the request asking the Maa community to shun family planning and embark on increasing their population.
“Kenyan politics today is all about numbers. Without numbers, you are nowhere. My message to you is that you increase your population. Those telling you about family planning should be your enemies,” he told the applauding crowd.
He said that the Maa community’s bargaining power would increase as it is numbers that one brings to the table that matters.
The event was attended by among others former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
