Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has announced that he will be vying for the presidency during the 2017 general election.
Speaking in Kalenjin dialect when he met leaders from Mount Elgon, Moi said that he was responding to calls from KANU supporters who want him to contest for the country's top seat.
"I will no longer sit back and watch as our people are being misled in the wrong direction. I will vie for the presidency so that I can show them the way and lead them to Canaan", he said.
In preparation for 2017, Moi said that he will seek to strengthen the independence party before attempting to unseat current President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The younger Moi added that his main aim as to ensure that KANU reaches out to many Kenyans in order to ascend to the presidency easily.
