Retired President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi is celebrating his 92nd birthday today.
Born on 2nd September 1924 in Sacho Baringo District, Moi lost his father Kemoi Chebii at a tender age.
He however rose to become a prominent political figure and the second president of Kenya for a record 24 Years.
Moi started his primary education at the age of ten at African Inland Church Mission School.
After secondary school, he joined Tambach Teachers' training College where he trained as a teacher.
His teaching proffession was short-lived as he ventured into politics in 1955, a path which would see him walk the murky path to State House in 1978 after the death of the founding Father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta until 2002.
Moi married his late wife Lena in 1950 and were blessed with 8 children;Philip, Gedion, Jeniffer, Davis, Philip among others.
