Following a Senate meeting on Tuesday, Moi university administration has now issued a memo calling students back to school for the resumption of lectures.

"Moi University wishes to inform all continuing students in the following schools and campuses that studies will resume on Thursday 10th May 2018 at 8:00 a.m" part of the memo which was published on the university's official website read.

The campuses in which classes will resume session are the main campus in Kesses, Eldoret West campus, Eldoret Annex campus, College of health sciences, and other satellite campuses.

The fourth years who are in the first semester will however not go back to classes.

"The reporting date for fourth years the first semester will be communicated in due course" noted the university's management in the memo.

All the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) first-year students for the year 2018/1029 will report on Monday 27th August 2018 as admission for privately sponsored students for May and August is ongoing.

Moi University now joins Multimedia, Technical University of Kenya and Pwani University as the only public universities that have resumed activities after the strike that has lasted more than 60 days.

This comes only a few hours after the Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) officials insisted that the university lecturers are still on strike and a warned those universities that will resume session against serious consequences.
