A Moi university student was on Wednesday charged in court for allegedly having ISIS links.

The suspect Hassan Kassim was arrested in Kizingo on Monday.

 According to the police, the suspect was scheduled to travel to Libya over the long holidays.

Hassan an ICT student was accused for establishing a communication network with the ISIS.  

 The state counsel Eugene Wangila, told the court that the suspect has been communicating with ISIS members in Libya. 

"I do believe the suspect, who is on his long holiday, has contact with ISIS members and is scheduled to travel to Libya over the holidays," Wangila was quoted by the standard.

He added that ISIS will use Hassan due to his information technology skills. 

Hassan will be in police custody for 15 days to allow police investigate his phone and laptop.
