Construction of a new ultra-modern Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret town will give room for the expansion of the Moi University school of medicine and the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Eldoret campus.

According to the MTRH Chief Executive officer (CEO) Dr. Wilson Aruasa, as the hospital will be relocating to Kiplombe in the outskirts of Eldoret town, so will the Moi University school of medicine and the KMTC.

The two institutions are located adjacent to MTRH and a majority of the students use the hospital for their practicals.

"We have a special connection with Moi University and for the record when we move out, they will also be moving. We cannot leave them behind," Dr. Aruasa said in Eldoret on Sunday.

"As it is now this school of medicine is so small and we are hoping that it will be expanded once we relocate; same to the KMTC," he added.

Construction for the 4,000-bed ultra-modern Hospital estimated to cost over sh28 billion is set to begin in January 2018 on a 200 acres piece of land at Kiplombe, Eldoret.
