Nandi County legal advisor Mr George Tarus has blamed Moi University Law School management following the closure of the institution by the Council of Legal Education (CLE).

According to remarks he posted on his Facebook account on Tuesday afternoon, the Nandi legal advisor said the incident raises questions on the school’s management.

“That the future of 1,500 students currently enrolled in the programme now hangs in the balance is not only a stinging indictment on the leadership of the University, but also raises questions on the management of the law school,” read part of his remarks.

Tarus who was a student leader in the Law school during his time when studying in the campus back in 2007/2008 academic year also complained of how their proposal to build a proper library in the institution was not taken with great seriousness with this being the seventh year without any hopes of a proper Library being erected.

“I was named in the committee to come up with a proposal for such a facility together with Prof. FX Njenga (RIP) chaired by Dr Mutai. We made the proposal and it is sad to report that the Library has since stalled seven years down the line,” the statement added.

Tarus also lauded how the institution has produced great lawyers in the past and thus calling upon the concerned to work with speed to restore the image of the institution.

“The concerned should move fast in investing the millions paid by law students to fix the areas pointed out by CLE as needing improvement,” he said.

The decision has thrown into jeopardy the future of 1,500 students who were undertaking their law courses in the institution.
