Moi University received a delegation from the Technische Hochschule Köln University of Applied Sciences (TH Köln) Germany, on Monday, February 19, 2018 at the main campus.

The delegation was led by Prof. Sylvia Heuchemer (Vice President Academic Affairs), Dr. Johannes Hdmhdber, Guinther Straut, Prof. Martin Bonnet, Susanne Glaeser, Alexander Tekete, Beate Rhein, Prof. Rudolf Hoschaid and Christine Brey.

The visitors were received by Moi University Acting Vice Chancellor Prof Laban Ayiro. 

They held discussions with Dr. Charles Lagat, Director International Programmes, Linkages and Alumni, Prof. C. J. Odhiambo, Dean School of Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Simiyu Sitati, Dean School of Engineering, Dr. Mathew Kosgei, Associate Dean School of Biological and Physical Sciences, Prof. John Changach, Dean School of Education and Mr. Solomon Mutai, Deputy Librarian. 

The purpose of the visit was a fact-finding mission to Kenya as part of a project on “Learning by Co-Design – Teaching is Research” which is funded by DAAD program – “Network development and qualification measures based on the model of the German universities of applied sciences in Kenya 2017-2019.”

A communication from the University said TH Köln are looking forward to strengthen and extend their ties with Kenyan universities and build strong partnerships in both teaching and research. 

 It was agreed that representatives from Moi University and TH Klörn will develop an institutional Memorandum of Understanding focusing on teaching, research and capacity building initially focusing on the field of engineering, manufacturing and commerce.

 The visitors also toured the main campus and held discussions with Heads of Departments in the School of Engineering to identify areas of common interest.
