Moi University has received Sh200 million to revamp its infrastructure.
According to Moi University Ag. Vice Chancellor Prof Laban Ayiro, this will ensure that the University has modern structures that will create conducive working and learning environment for both students and staff.
"We recently received 200 million Kenyan shillings from the national government meant to improve and upgrade the university infrastructure," he said after handing over contracts certificates to contractors who won tenders on Tuesday.
He added, "The amount will be used to construct a perimeter wall at a cost of Sh15 million, floodlights at Sh20.9m and the construction of an ultra modern gate at a cost of Ksh4.8m."
He reiterated that the perimeter wall and the state-of-the-art main gate will be completed within 16 weeks while the erection of flood lights will take four weeks.
"We want to re-brand Moi University to regain it's lost glory. I will use the last drop of my blood to ensure that students and staff get quality service," noted Ayiro.
He, however, urged students to take care of the University property and shun vandalism.
“Anybody found engaging in vandalism will face the law since it is a criminal offence," he said.
