Moi University staff held peaceful demonstrations on Monday calling for the removal of Vice Chancellor Prof Richard Mibey.
Jack Willis Okumu, the secretary of UASU Moi University Chapter, wondered why the VC was recalled to the institution.
"We want to be told who brought Prof Mibey back in office despite finishing his term, if it's the Deputy President or Governor Jackson Mandago he will go back home with them," he said.
"Since he assumed office the institution has been grounded due to his looting and corrupt nature," he claimed.
He said, despite the institution generating a revenue of Sh2.2 billion annually, it's in a deplorable condition.
"Casuals have not been paid, we don't have medical scheme, congested hostels and also spending a lot of money in opening satellite colleges for his own gains. We want an explanation where the money is being taken," he said.
They vowed to conduct daily demonstrations until Prof Mibey is removed from office.
