Only a sizable number of students have reported back to school after Moi University issued a memo on Tuesday announcing the resumption of classes.

The memo stated that classes will begin Thursday at 8:00 a.m but a majority of the schools did not have the scheduled classes.

Only a few schools including the School of Engineering have so far received the time table. Eldoret West Campus, on the other hand, had several classes.

A student at the campus said they had a class on Thursday and are scheduled to have another on Friday.

"Today we had a successful class and we have received communication that we might have another tomorrow," said an engineering student.

The time table of several schools released so far shows that the semester will run up to August after which the students will go for a short break before resuming on September.

A larger percentage of the students at main campus have not yet reported for the session as most of the hostels are still empty and the ever busy academic highway is also deserted.

We tried reaching out to The Dean of Students on Thursday but could not be reached as he was in a meeting.

The university is yet to comment on the low turn out.

This comes even as Moi University lecturers insist that they are still on strike.

Addressing a media briefing in Eldoret town, the University's UASU chairman George Kegode accused the university administration of misleading students and insisted that they have not agreed to return back to work.
