Moi University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Isaac Kosgey has called on students to guard jealously the image of the institution from negative publicity.
Prof. Kosgey told the students that Moi University was their choice and would be the one to shape their careers hence need to guard it jealously.
“You are the people who will make or break your university. There is a lot of negative publicity in social media about Moi University because of the weird acts of some students," said the VC during the swearing ceremony of students leaders on Tuesday.
He advised students to focus on their studies so that they complete and graduate on time.
Prof. Kosgey also congratulated the students' leaders upon being elected, reminding them that they are the chosen few, and therefore it is a privilege for them to be the bridge between the students and the university management.
“Swearing in is a commitment to yourself and your constituents on the service you want to offer. It is a huge responsibility that requires wisdom. I want you to go and read the characteristics of a good leader. You need the integrity to live up to the expectations of your constituents and you must strike a balance to give good guidance to your colleagues,” the VC noted.
Prof Kosgey further urged the student leaders to follow the established university structures whenever they seek to resolve their grievances instead of turning into unreasonable activists who train their efforts at destabilizing the running of the Institution.
