Rongai Constituency MP Raymond Moi has urged the government to enhance security in Rongai sub-county to help reduce cases of cattle theft in different parts of the sub-county.
Moi claimed that the insecurity has deteriorated in Chemasisi and Lower Solai locations alleging that farmers have lost a number of cows in the recent past.
“The insecurity at Solai Ward is causing jittery as more than 120 cows have been stolen in the last one month,” said Moi.
Speaking on Thursday at Lower Solai, the MP urged the residents to support the government's effort in the fight against cattle rustling.
The legislator said that for any meaningful development to take place insecurity should be properly addressed and tough measures should also be put in place to curb criminal cases.
“Government should address insecurity issue in Solai to ensure residents and their property are always safe,” said the legislator.
He also asked Nyumba Kumi initiatives in the area to set up their efforts in the struggle against insecurity.
“I urge residents to continuously support security officers in flushing criminals operating among them,” said Moi.
Moi however urged the residents not to take law in their hands when dealing with cattle rustlers and instead report such matters to police to deal with them in accordance with the rule of law.
