Former President Daniel Moi has urged students to grow spiritually and cultivate moral values.
He said that students need to have spiritual nourishment apart from academic pursuits to enable them live in a society free from evils.
“Learning to know God is the first step in acquiring knowledge,” said Moi.
Addressing Kabarak School fraternity on Sunday during the baptism day where more than 270 students were baptised, Moi said that the society has a great stake in providing spiritual contents to students.
“Spiritual nourishment to the students is important in building a God- fearing nation,” said Moi.
The retired president urged the students to cultivate the habit of reading the Holy Bible to have more insight in the Holy Scriptures.
“I urge the students to be avid readers of the Bible so as to acquire spiritual knowledge. The Bible is a companion that guides us to a free sinful society,” he added.
The school chaplain Rev Jones Kulei urged the students to be good ambassadors of the Christ.
“It is upon you to practice what you have received. Baptism means a change of old to a new life,” said Kulei.
The colourful baptism was attended by parents, guardians and members of the public.
