Pressure is piling on Tiaty MP Asman Kamama to resign from the powerful parliamentary committee of security, following escalating insecurity in his own backyard.
Cattle rustlers from the warring communities have in the recent past exchanged fire leading to deployment of hundreds of security officers to the region.
But on Wednesday Baringo senator Gideon Moi shifted blame to Kamama, questioning his ability to handle the menace which threatens lives of thousands of people.
“He has no business at all to chair security committee yet he cannot guide MPs to come with a concrete decision over this. He should resign,” said the agitated legislator.
The KANU chairman added: “He knows exactly what is happening but he is economical of truth. Deployment officers to pursue wrong targets won’t work.”
The troubled Rift Valley region has lasted for years, with leaders from the region yet to come with amicable solution.
Recently, Deputy President William Ruto was forced to flee the region after suspected bandits opened fire few meters from where he was addressing locals.
