Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has been warned against his ongoing charm offensive against Deputy President William Ruto, as the political battles between the two seems to be far from over.
Moi, who also doubles as KANU chairman, on Sunday maintained that the DP will never be president in the near future.
But a host of South Rift leader led by Kericho senator Aaron Cheriyoit warned that the independence party risked losing grip in its only remaining stronghold, Baringo, should Moi continue attacking the DP.
“We supported his father for all these years yet he is so disrespectful to the DP. I want to assure him that South Rift remains a Jubilee zone.
“He should be grateful for what we did to his father and respect the DP. Our team will even work harder to lock KANU out of some regions,” added Cheruiyoit.
Additionally, Ainamoi MP Benjamin Langat challenged Jubilee leadership to push for dissolution of KANU for ‘good’ partnership.
“We agree that only Jubilee party should steer our presidency. We do not recognise any MoU with KANU and its time that it is dissolved,” he said.
Last week, KANU agreed to back President Kenyatta’s re-election but vowed to field candidates in all other elective seats.
