Moiben MP Silas Tiren has challenged youths in the constituency to take up farming as an income generating activity instead of waiting for white collar jobs to come by.

He was addressing  youth groups at Moiben shopping center over the weekendand he added that farming is a profitable venture and the youth should embrace it.

“I encourage youths to stop this mentality of waiting for white collar jobs and instead embrace farming,” he said.

The legislator pledged to support youths who are willing and ready to take up farming as a way of earning livelihood.

He stated that though farming youths will be able to earn descent incomes and promote their socio-economic standards.

Tiren further said that farming will boost food security in the area and also promote economic development.

He asked the Uasin Gishu government to start programmes that will encourage young people to take up farming.

Tiren said that compared to formal employment, farming is the only venture that guarantees good returns for one never goes wrong with food.

The MP asked youths to utilize the Uwezo Funds and use them to start farming ventures.
