Moi’s Bridge Ward Representative Daniel Kipleting has urged the Uasin Gishu county government to supply residents with clean piped water.

Speaking at Moi’s Bridge Town on Wednesday, the MCA noted that 90 per cent of residents in the ward are not connected to piped water. He said that access to clean water in the area is a nightmare for many residents.

The MCA stated that locals are forced to buy water from vendors which he said is not safe.

Kipleting said that residents have been complaining to him over the failure by the county government to supply them with water.

“I receive complaints every day from the people who need clean piped water,” he said.

Kipleting told the county government to sink boreholes to enable residents access water. He said that water is a basic commodity that the county government must provide to the people.

Residents complain that getting water especially during the dry spell is a problem in the area.

Jacinta Nyamosi, a hotel owner at Moiben said getting clean water for her customers is a problem.

“I am forced to buy water from vendors who take advantage to sell it at high prices,” she said on Tuesday.

Nyamosi said that though she is connected to piped water frequent shortages has hampered her business.
