A family in Total trading Centre in Kuresoi North Nakuru County has been living in distress after their daughter died five months ago in Saudi Arabia, and cannot bring her back home for burial.
The family is now appealing for help from the national Government through the Foreign affairs Ministry, and the county government of Nakuru to bring back the body of 29 year Catherine Wangechi who died “under unclear circumstances” in Saudi Arabia.
Her Mother Mrs. Grace Wangui said Wangeci left Kenya for Dubai in September last year, only to end up in Saudi Arabia.
“She had informed me that she was going to Dubai only to inform me later that she ended up in Saudi Arabia. We later learnt that she died on the 21st of May this year through a Facebook post” Mrs Wangui said.
“My communication with her was cut because phone calls were not going through, she added.
“The Facebook Post said my daughter committed suicide” she narrated.
“Our efforts have bore no fruit as we have been told to wait by the Foreign Affairs department in Nairobi” said one of the relatives Mr Samwel Irungu.
Addressing the issue, Nakuru County Women Rep Mary Mbugua blamed the agents for “misleading Kenyan girls over the foreign jobs”
“Parents should at all costs follow up on the kind of work their daughters are promised by these agents or else to remain in Kenya and seek jobs here” Mrs Mbugua said.
