Molo sub-county hospital is on the spot once again after residents raised concerns over alleged poor service delivery at the facility.
According to Mr Gachoka Kariuki, a resident, services offered by a section of staff is wanting.
“This is my third time I have come here with an emergency case and find no clinical officer to attend to us,” said Mr Gachoka.
He says many people have complained and raised concern over the issue but no action has been taken.
He claims that most of the clinical officers in the facility own pharmacy shops in Molo town and could easily jeopardize operations in the hospital.
“Not every person can afford to take a patient to a private facility,” added Mr Gachoka.
Residents asked the Ministry of Health to act.
“I came here at 6am accompanied by my ailing father and patients are trickling in with no clinical officers around,” Ms Beatrice Njeri said, adding that she had spent four hours at the waiting bay.
When contacted over the same, Molo Member of County Assembly Mr Michael Karanja and Molo MP Kuria Kimani admitted that the facility is in dire need of doctors and nurses.
“Despite being a Level 4 hospital, we have very poor services at the hospital,” said Mr Karanja.
He added that the facility does not have a modern out-patient department.
“I agree that we have a challenge with the clinical officers manning the Out-Patient Department (OPD) which is our first patient area and as the management, we are addressing it,” one of the hospital’s administrators wrote in a local WhatsApp group.
Molo sub-county hospital serves Kuresoi, Olenguruone, Mau Summit among other areas.
They have called on Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui to deploy more nurses and doctors to improve services.
County CeC for health Dr. Jonah Manjari could not be reached for comment as calls went unanswered while text messages were not replied to.
