Speaking to the press in Molo on Friday, Kahura demanded that the Ministry of Lands release all title deeds in the area to prevent such feuds. He alleged that one piece of land was being sold to many different people illegally.

He lamented that the local land department often sold to them land without proper documentation.

Kahura claimed that the heavy corruption in the department has been a great hindrance to the legal sale of land in the area leading to land clashes.

Elburgon Member of County Assembly Florence Wambui appealed to the national government to stop the county from selling any piece of land till all the cases have been resolved.

Wambui said there was an urgent need for the government to immediately release an official map for the area as the first step in solving the dispute.

She argued that all the tribal clashes witnessed in the area were as a result of land disputes in the area.

“The clashes in 1992, 1997 and 2007 were as a result of land disagreement which contributed to deaths and loss of property. If left unchecked, the situation might arise again,” she added.
