Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWD) in Molo sub county have been asked to apply for government money and start business and other ventures.
Addressing news reporters at Molo town PLWD sub county chairman John Mugo said that by applying for the money they will be able to enhance their lives.
He said that the governement has recognized their plight and that they should take the opportunity to better themsleves.
“I want to urge people living with disabilities across Molo sub county to come out and apply for state funds,” he said.
Mr Mugo said that disabled persons have the same rights just like other citizens as stipulated in the constitution.
The chairman asked both the county and the national governmen tot guard the interests of disabled persons.
He indicated that though cases of discrimination have gone down, disabled perosns are still being looked down upon in some areas.
Mugo said that disbaled persons have a crucial role to play in development noting that most of the have skills and knowledge that could be used to better the society.
He asked leaders in Molo sub county to work together and ensure that the welfare of disabled people is taken care of.
