The angry residents barricaded a section of the Nakuru-Eldoret highway on Sunday, paralysing transport services for hours.

They claimed that their taps have run dry and have no other means of accessing clean drinking water.

Through their spokesperson Anita Mwalesi, the residents accused the county government of neglecting them when it came to provision of clean water.

Mwalesi said that they have not received water supply for the last two months and appealed for intervention by the area MP.

“We have no clean water to drink and run our activities. Unscrupulous business people have taken advantage of the situation to sell the basic commodity at very high prices,” she said.

She indicated that a borehole they depended on for clean and fresh water was closed down two weeks ago over unpaid bills.

The residents have appealed to the Nakuru County government to step in and address the issue which is affecting their productivity.
