Traders in Molo sub-county have threatened to stop paying tax levies if the county government of Nakuru fails to construct Molo-Kibuja road.
Jacob Njuguna, a businessman operating along the road, attributed low profits being obtained to the poor status of the road.
“Our businesses are doing bad as a result of the poor infrastructure where you find that many people are avoiding this road,” he said.
“We are urging the county government to rehabilitate this road, failure to that we will stop paying tax,” said Njuguna.
Molo Traders Association chairman Charles Marioko said the road is in a bad condition, adding that most drivers were avoiding it.
Marioko supported the traders’ sentiment of refusing to pay tax if the road is not fixed.
“The government needs to create a business friendly environment for the traders,” said Marioko.
