Joyce Wangare Njogu allegedly killed her husband at their home late in the night of August 29 by hitting him on the head with a blunt object before setting her house on fire leading to the death of her husband and two kids who were asleep at the time of the incident

According to the police file, the couple had had recurring domestic feuds that might have lead to the deaths.

She appeared before Justice Maureen Odero to take plea on Wednesday after a psychiatric examination proved she was mentally stable to plead to the charges which she denied.

The accused through her lawyer, Zenah Kiboss urged the court to release her client on bond awaiting determination of the matter.

Justice Maureen Odero however declined to issue any bond terms after the prosecution objected the application until a pre-bail report is presented before court.

"A pre-bail report of the accused must first be done and presented before court to establish if the accused is fit to be released," she ruled.

The matter was slated for hearing on February 16.
