Borabu MP Ben Momanyi has finally broken ranks with embattled Nyamira Governor John Nyagrama moments after Jubilee leadership visited the region.
Nyagarama has been facing torrid moments with a section of angry residents rebuking him in front of President Uhuru Kenyatta recently at Kebirigo town.
But Momanyi, a trusted lieutenant of the Governor on Sunday said he was ‘tired’ of being linked to a ‘crumbling’ regime and called for change.
“I am now tied of working with a tired regime which is crumbling daily. People want progress and the county has failed to realize the dreams of Nyamira people by spurring growth,” Momanyi said.
“I have now made a personal decision of supporting someone who can bring social-economic change to our people because that is what we want. It’s time for us to change our county leadership for our own good,” he said without mentioning his preferred candidate.
The Wiper MP also challenged MCAs to ‘wakeup’ and put the county leadership on toes and seized the opportunity to call for prosecution of people alleged to have engaged in corruption related deals.
“Election is far and we still need accountability in our county. Unfortunately, our MCAs are sleeping on their job and time has come for them to wake up. We also want an action taken against those who have been mentioned in various corruption related scandals,” he added.
