Borabu MP Ben Momanyi has yet against insisted that he isn’t a ‘stranger’ in the opposition Cord, and maintained that he will defend his seat on a Wiper Democratic Party in the 2017 polls.
Momanyi was trolled on social media forums for allegedly drumming up support for the Jubilee government on Saturday when National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi visited his constituency before again pledging to support Cord leader Raila Odinga on Sunday when the latter visited Nyamira.
And in an exclusive interview with this writer on Tuesday, Momanyi dismissed his critics as ‘online noisemakers’ and maintained that he was in Cord to stay.
“I have answered that questions (links to Jubilee) many times and I won’t tire to say that I am not a stranger in Cord. We founded the coalition and I have no intention of moving out. The mere fact that I sometimes work with Jubilee leaders doesn’t, mean I decamped,” he said.
“Those criticising me are just idle online noisemakers. I will seek reelection on Wiper Ticket and I am certain that I will recapture the seat in 2017. This cheap politics of associating me with Jubilee should cease,” he added.
Momanyi backed Raila for president, saying his record as an evergreen leader was ‘absolutely admirable’.
“My prayer is that Odinga wins in 2017 because he has been very consistent and evergreen. I will support his candidature and that is a guarantee,” he added.
